Project 1

Diagramming Architectural Principles (Group)

This project involves diagramming architectural principles by abstracting and simplifying design ideas. In groups of 5-6 people, students will research an assigned architect and key building, create a set of architectural drawings in 1:50 scale and analyze the building's design intentions, context, space planning, circulation, zoning, and structure. The analysis will be expressed through 5 analysis diagrams and 5 diagrammatic models (12 x 12 x 8 cm). The project aims to help students understand how architectural spaces are created through design intentions and architectural elements like solids, planes, lines, and frames.

Reflection

TGC 2.0: Lifelong Learning

Upon submission, I learned to identify architects and their works, and I became capable of recognizing key architectural principles and concepts and analyzing them. This experience has deepened my understanding and enhanced my foundational knowledge of design principles, which will greatly benefit me in the future.

TGC 3.0: Thinking and Problem-Solving skills

This project has been instrumental in enhancing my creativity and critical thinking. It has allowed me to effectively translate and develop my analysis into appropriate diagrams. Additionally, I've refined my skills in creating basic architectural compositions using solids, planes, lines, and frames.

TGC 4.0 : Communication Skills

By the end of this project, my communication skills are enhanced through verbal presentations and orthographic drawings, in addition to diagrams. These drawings showcase clarity, accurate scaling, and precise line work, effectively conveying information to others.
