REFLECTION
Conclusion.
In summary, the Architecture and Environment module has been an enriching experience, offering deep insights into the impact of human actions on the environment and the interplay between buildings and natural systems. Throughout this module, I've honed my Discipline-Specific Knowledge (TGC 1.0) by delving into sustainability design theories, exploring passive design interventions for daylighting, thermal comfort, and green buildings. Moreover, I've significantly developed my ability to articulate ideas and convey them visually through posters and videos, enhancing my communication skills (TGC 4.0). This journey has also sharpened my critical thinking and problem-solving abilities (TGC 3.0), fostering a mindset of continuous learning (TGC 2.0). For instance, when faced with challenges in navigating an unfamiliar Autocad app for house modeling, I proactively sought out tutorials and conducted extensive research, recognizing the opportunity to acquire valuable skills. Overall, while the module presented interesting topics, it required more emphasis on research and data collection rather than presenting significant challenges. By the conclusion of this session, I anticipate a heightened understanding of environmental conditions in architecture design and the application of variables like heat, light, and ventilation for optimal building design on both local and global scales.
Learning Experience.
My overall learning journey in A&E has been interesting. The blend of physical and online learning has proven to be highly beneficial and engaging. Personally, I find face-to-face classes particularly advantageous as they foster effective learning and provide immediate feedback. Nonetheless, online quizzes play a crucial role in ensuring that students grasp the concepts by the end of the module. The online platform also serves as an excellent tool for announcements, document sharing, and facilitating independent learning from home. As we approach the conclusion, I want to express my sincere gratitude to the module coordinator, Dr. Jan-Frederik Flor, for his responsible and approachable demeanor towards all students. Additionally, I extend my deepest appreciation to my tutor, Ar. Edwin Chan Yean Liong, whose patience and constructive feedback have consistently supported us throughout all the tasks.
